2009年も残すところあとわずかとなりました。気がつけば年末。えも言われぬ感覚に襲われている加藤でございます。

そんな中、現在のブログエントリを書きつつ一年を振り返れば、今年もたくさんの出来事があった事に気づきます。出会いや別れ、プロジェクトの成功や、消火作業等、やはり色々と思い出す事はできます。このまま忙しさに流されて忘れないように、今年最後の仕事を納めたあとはこの一年間の我が身を振り返る時間に割り当てたいと思うところであります。

本年も縁ある皆様からのご愛顧賜り、誠にあり難く御礼を申し上げます。来る年も変わらぬ御愛顧のほど、宜しくお願い申し上げます。

皆様はパソコンの電源を入れる際、机の下など手の届きにくい場所にスイッチがあることで、不便さを感じることはないでしょうか。
そのような場合には、この電源スイッチ延長キットである「ひもつき君 E-PC-S2」がお役に立ちます。
既設の電源スイッチと差し替えるだけで2メートル近く延長することができ、自由に位置を決められます。

同じ物を既に所持してはいるものの、今回調達の機会に恵まれたため、もう1つ入手致しました。

なお、ニッチなキワモノパーツである割にはロングセラーらしく、4年前の発売でありながら現在も店頭で入手可能なのがありがたいところです。
但し、お店でお買い上げのメーカー製PCやネットでお買い上げの直販PCなど自作PC以外には使用できないかもしれません。予めご了承下さい。

People nowadays tend to buy lots of electronic gadgets like mobile phones, PDAs and so on to make life easier and more enjoyable.
With mobile phone we are able to communicate with each other (almost) independent of our actual location.
With mobile internet access we can even communicate not only overcoming the restrictions distance but also the restrictions of time.
For example, we can just send an email or a message within a social network like Facebook or Mixi.
For entertainment purposes we can install games on our mobile phones to play with.

Last week it started to snow in Aizu. And I think that I didn’t see as much snow at any places I lived before until now. In only three hours a frosty but still slightly colorful autumn scenery was turned into a white winter wonderland, covered with a thick solid blanket of snow and later decorated with countless icicles. A city that I was starting to think of a familiar place little by little, turned into a completely new environment suddenly. Places I saw several times were worth exploring again, because they changed their shape drastically. And the whole city seemed to have grown to its double size: due to the street’s condition it was nearly impossible to use my bike anymore. So I was forced to walk to where ever I wanted to go to, which gave me the time to see a little more of my surrounding. And astonishingly I even got to know the people living around me better. During summer times I barely saw my neighbors for example – just somebody rushing in or out of his apartment from time to time. But these days people had to come out of their houses to remove the snow from their parking slots and cars. And there was a lot of snow to be removed… Passing people seem to be a welcome opportunity for a break and to chat about the harsh weather and stuff; nothing important, but still: although the temperature is dropping, somehow the ambiance seems to become warmer. And that’s very nice.

これらのアイコンは、各種操作を行うためのリンクや、項目属性の表示といった用途に利用されています。

いろいろと評判は聞きつつ、ついに私もWin7を購入してみました。
Windowsの中で動くソフトウェアを開発する身として、いつまでも「XPのみ対応です」とはいえなくなってきたためです。

さっそくテストマシンにインストール。
ドライバを入れて、今までのプログラムを動作確認し、完了・・・しませんでした。

特に、プログラム面でエラーの予測処理を行っているらしいのですが、このため動かないソフトウェアを何度も起動終了を繰り返すとたまに動いてしまいます。
これは Vista からある機能なのですが、このためどこまで動いたかのダンプメッセージに違いが出てしまっています。
それは今回も健在のようで、頭の痛い問題になりそうです。

たくさんのバージョンが存在する Windows 7 ですが、開発者バージョンといったエラー特定がしやすいバージョンを出してもらえないのかなぁ・・・とぼやいてしまっています。

Recently I realized in what comfortable times I have the opportunity to live in Japan.
If now the year would be… say… 1999, a lot of things would be much more different and also much more difficult.

When I arrived at Tokyo over six month ago, I was somehow overwhelmed by the endless numbers of signs and advertisements around me. Especially when you are new to a language, you cannot sort out quickly the important information out of the visual and acoustic noise. And in Japan there is not only the language problem, but especially the Asian writing with Kanji causes me quite a trouble. So at the beginning I tended to try to decipher every interesting looking sign. And if you are new to a country everything seems to be interesting, somehow… And I was really surprised: unlike the image I had about Japanese people, there can be a huge surplus supply of information, especially in the area of service it can be even quite obtrusive sometimes. So I have to admit that in the end after some weeks my ability of perception was quite exhausted and I was more the other way round: I ignored these information overflow completely.

But this can be kind of dangerous as well. Somehow the first subconscious expectation about things you haven’t been confronted with in a different environment, is naively that it is similar to your home country. I’m from a country where the most dangerous animal is maybe the tick. So we don’t have animals like bears in Germany. (At least we hadn’t for about 170 years with one exception in 2006. But this bear was shot by Bavarian hunters…) Of course I heard about bears in Japan. But I wasn’t thinking about it anymore because of the hiker’s replies to my question was always that wasps were probably the biggest danger you could encounter in the Japanese nature; but their season has gone now. So I was doing my hikes without worrying to much. At least until I encountered my first black bear: a really huge animal. Thanks god it was only a padded one. But to think I could encounter a living exemplar in the forest… And suddenly I see all this warning signs along hiking paths again which are giving me the good advice to beware of dangerous bears and poisonous snakes.

普段あまり見ないのですが、たまにはと思いテレビを見ていると、プロ野球選手とプロボクサーが動体視力テストと反射力テストなるものをしていました。プロスポーツ選手なんだから凄いんだろうな、などと思いながらテストの説明を聞いていると、最後に怪しい黒メガネが出てきて、まさか立体視か？と思ったら案の定「今回は3Dメガネを使って立体視でやってもらいましょう！」というナレーションが！

こんなところにも立体視が使われるということに驚きました。しかし、映画などにおいては3Dだと迫力が出て良いと思いますが、このテストを3Dでやっても2Dの場合と何か違いがあるんだろうか？ということが気になってしまいました。どうせならメガネなしでもやってくれれば良かったのに・・・
せっかく見るんだったらすっきり楽しめる番組見た方がいいですね。
